The Sphinx Cinema has a very long history in the city of Ghent, which makes that it’s recognized as cultural heritage by the city. You can find them at the most central point of the city, since 1912. Throughout several changes, modifications and re-openings, Sphinx Cinema has gone back to the roots, with the eyes open on quality cinema of tomorrow.

It’s still an independent cinema, focused on an arthouse program, with respect for its long tradition. The large bar is a relatively new add to Sphinx, re-opened in 2003. It’s a place where you can try out some local craft beers – also on tap – , a local haven to unite with friends before or after a movie. Sphinx Cinema en Café are truly cultural heritage in Ghent, and are an institute well worth to support.
