Parque Emperatriz María de Austria: large park in a local neighbourhood of Madrid

Saturday morning: some people are still half-asleep, but are bringing their dog out. Children are already joyful and running and playing around, while some people of more advanced age are using the open air gym equipment. This is the atmosphere in Parque Emperatriz María de Austria. It’s a really local park, one that is abundantly used by the citizens of this neighbourhood.

Together with Parque de Pradolongo, which lays next to it, the park forms a green lung in this area of Madrid. You’ll find grassfields, majestic trees, sports fields and equipment, playing areas for children, and in summer open air movie screenings are organized. Metro station Plaza Elíptica is basically located within the park. A nice park if you’re into discovering truly local areas of Madrid.
