Ecological, vegan food and a space for upcoming artists: meet the Blueproject Foundation & El Café in El Born, Barcelona

Located in the heart of El Born, the two adjacent places of Blueproject are getting quite well known to locals that are into culture and/or sustainable food. From the moment you walk in, you feel this place breathes passion, and has an aim that reaches quite far. Therefore, we had a small interview with Vanessa, the founder of Blueproject, to get to know their story.

Hi Vanessa! Can you tell us a bit more about Blueproject? How did it all start?

More than a business, it’s an idea, a lifestyle, something we want to achieve. The foundation is non-profit and the café nearly is so as well. It all started about 4 years ago, to give an opportunity to young artists and to bring artists to Barcelona. The café started with a believe for a healthier world, with food that doesn’t create illnesses, quite the contrary.

What’s the idea, philosophy you want to share with Blueproject?

El Café Blueproject Vegan BarcelonaIt’s definitely possible to create a better world, we just have to know how to be generous and altruistic. There is already enough junk food in the world. One has to change the entire mindset, and go for food that gives life, not food that intoxicates it.

How is Barcelona doing when it comes to sustainability?

When it’s about sustainability, it’s never enough, there are always ways to go further and improve. For instance the vegan scene in Barcelona is gaining ground, but there could definitely be more attention to the sustainable part of it, using ecological products.

Do you have any tips for locals/visitors of sustainable places in Barcelona?

I can really recommend to often escape the city and take a walk in one of the many forests. One of the places I really adore is “El Parque de la Tamarita”, a natural jewel in Barcelona.

Thanks a lot for sharing your story, your innovative work and the great tips Vanessa!!
