Kontakt: cozy specialty coffee shop in Budapest

Some years ago, coffee at most places was bad. You had to drink it with milk and sugar, cause it would either be too bitter, too acid, too sweet or just utter rubbish. Still now, some places that serve this kind of “coffee” are to be found in any European city and country. But the good news is that the amount of people with a passion for coffee is increasing at a huge speed. In Budapest, several dedicated specialty coffee places exist, one of the nicest ones called “Kontakt”.

What makes a specialty coffee bar so different from others is the passion for the product, the passion for selecting the best beans according to region and harvest, for creating the perfect roasting and finishing with an outstanding brewing. And this quite accurately describes what they are doing at Kontakt. Talking with the staff here, you feel coffee is not just something to make money off, they try to create thé perfect drink in every cup (in which they do succeed well).

To my personal opinion, the interior of some specialty coffee bars can be a bit too sterile, but not so at Kontakt. Thanks to them working with a lot of wood (and having some joyful people around that bring a nice atmosphere), it’s a kind of place you want to come to to read your newspaper, talk with friends, or even to learn a bit more about coffee and its harvest. Nice music in the background, perfect coffee and fresh cakes, you’ll forget all your sorrows here
